"For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing. Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too.

...But perhaps, it was only an echo."

- Lois Lowry,
The Giver, Ch. 23

“What if we had ideas that could think for themselves?
What if one day our dreams no longer needed us?
When these things occur and are held to be true, the time will be upon us
The time of angels”

Doctor Who 5x04 - The Time of Angels

I'm not weird, I'm just very awkward

When you're a kid, they tell you it's all 'Grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it.' But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.

Midget small, ultra blonde hair, blue eyed and fidgety.
I'm not weird, I'm just very awkward. The worst part of being as awkward as i am is that i know I'm doing it. I know I'm being irrationally awkward but i can't stop, it's something i swear that's been hardwired in me since birth!

If anything i'm a reader.
Weddings, school trips, family outings, family meals, birthday's and what have you, my mum would have to search and question me before such events. Because if she didn't, then the book would be hidden inside some pocket or other and as soon as whatever it was got under way i'd be found in a corner reading. That's just who i was. I'm not weird, i'm just very very awkward, i have suffered my whole life from being misunderstood, but I would have suffered a hell of a lot more if i had been understood....

-&-
Now back to the present, i'm 16 years old and slightly grazing the tiny height of 4ft 10 (yes, midget) i'm attending collage... And well lets just say it's rare now for me not to have at least a small book with me wherever i may go.
---

I will eventually grow up and live a life people approve of....(maybe) =P

Girls Can't Catch: Interview .DigitalSpy.

Girls Can't Catch are, from left to right, Daizy, Phoebe and Jess, they're signed to the same label as Girls Aloud and The Saturdays, and their debut single 'Keep Your Head Up' is a fat slab of electropop that introduces the word "romantasies" to the English language. Always ready to welcome a new girlband into the DS bosom, we hooked up with the girls for a chinwag. Oh, and naturally we took the opportunity to ask them about those pesky D***y R**k**s.

When did you all first meet?
Jess: "We came together at the beginning of the year. We were all doing our own things musically and the label wanted to put together a three-piece girlband, so they scouted us individually and asked us if we wanted to get involved. It's been really, really fast-paced."

Did you bond quite quickly?
Phoebe: "It did take a little while. Obviously if you chuck three people who don't know each other into a band, you're not going to be best mates straight away. But we were literally working together every day - we did two weeks of straight choreography because we were about to tour with Girls Aloud and we really bonded over that."

Who came up with the name?
Daizy: "Oh God, that was a bit of a nightmare actually. Because we didn't know each others' personalities, it was really hard coming up with a great name that suited all of us. It was the label who said, 'What about Girls Can't Catch?' and we all just fell in love with it. It's a bit different and quirky and that's what our band represents."

Were any really terrible names suggested?
Phoebe: "The Decibels!"
Daizy: "We were nearly going to be called The 11.59s, which I just hated so badly."
Jess: "The Forgotten Graces was another suggestion, Jeopardy, Hoodie Love..."
Daizy: "What about Gracie La La? That was the worst one of all!"

What do you think Girls Can't Catch have that other girlbands out there don't?
Daizy: "Obviously we come from the same family as Girls Aloud and The Saturdays, but we're providing a little bit of variety. We're grittier and a bit dirtier - the way All Saints are to Spice Girls, Sugababes to Atomic Kitten."
Jess: "Also we're three lead singers, so it's all about our vocals."
Phoebe: "Our songs are quite different to what other girlbands sing. 'Keep Your Head Up' is probably the poppiest track on the album. One of our songs has a Basement Jaxx vibe to it, and one is a kind of piano ballad with a really cool beat."

Have you finished recording your album?
Jess: "Pretty much, but we're re-recording some of the early demos to get them just right. We've done about 15 tracks so far, so we're getting to the stage where we choose which ones we want to go on the album."

Have you been involved in the songwriting process?
Daizy: "Phoebe wrote 'Stop', which is the B-side to 'Keep Your Head Up', but we're going to be writing more on the next album."
Phoebe: "It's a song about keeping your strength when men are pr**ks. We've all had experiences like that and I think it's important for girls to know they're not the only ones who get given s**t."

Do you feel pressure to match the success of Girls Aloud and The Saturdays?
Jess: "I don't think there's any pressure really. I think it's a privilege to say we're on the same label as these really successful groups. There's no rivalry or anything."
Daizy: "I like that Fascination has kind of become the girlbandy label. It feels really nice and sisterly."

Do you feel any rivalry with the Dolly Rockers?
Daizy: "Ooh! We haven't been asked about them yet!"
Jess: "We've heard that they don't like us, but we haven't heard any of their stuff yet so we can't really say anything about them."

They don't really like you?
Daizy : "No! They called us manufactured crap or something like that. That's their gimmick though - to slag everyone off. They're like 'We're stage school, but we're gonna pretend that we're not and be really outspoken'."

You've described 'Keep Your Head Up' as the Girls Can't Catch anthem. How so?
Jess: "I think because it's one of the first songs we heard when we got together. We loved it straight away and we were like 'This has got to be the first single!'"

The video shows you playing croquet in a rubbish dump. Whose idea was that?
Jess: "The director suggested it and..."
Daizy: "... we were like 'What?' Then she referenced Heathers and The Lost Boys and I love both of those films, so I was sold."
Phoebe: "The video's got a kind of eighties vibe to it and I love that."

What chart position are you aiming for?
Daizy: "Number one! How can we say anything else?! Imagine if we got to number two and Dolly Rockers got to number one."
Phoebe: "Haha! I'd have to buy some weapons and sort it out! Seriously though, we'd be happy with anything in the top ten."
Jess: "Nah, top five! We're ambitious girls."
